100GB In Your Pocket

Now you can carry your data with you anywhere you please; technically you could carry your entire PC with you, on your new portable hardrive. Maxtor has released a new line of portable drives that weigh only 7 ounces. They are billed as the OneTouch III Mini Edition.

The drives measure a mere 3 x 5 x 2 1/2inches and come enabled with Maxtors proprietary data encryption software to keep your data safe, and this protection is extended even if the drive is removed from its enclosure. The drive is powered by its USB connection. The 60GB version is $150 and the 100GB version sells for $200.

Not to be left out Plextor has released a similar line of portable
hardrives that are supposed to be shock proof. Plextors hardrives are
enclosed in a silicon jacket that prevents the hardrive from crashing should it be dropped. These models--which are at different capacities
from Maxtors Drives-- go for $169 for the 80GB and $260 for the 120GB.

I will not buy another Maxtor product, don’t matter how compact it is. I bought a Maxtor external harddrive last year and few weeks ago, it locked me out and I could never back up my files from it. I tried to call Maxtor, and they even knew what the problem is but they did not even try to resolve it. To Maxtor, please make something reliable, ok? thanks.
