Imagine sitting around your coffee table with a bunch of friends when all of a sudden someone puts their glass on the table and it lights up. This is the things that science fiction movies are made of. Not anymore. KLOSS has developed the DeLighTable, a pressure sensitive coffee table that will light up when objects are placed on it. The framework is finished in polished stainless steel, and is only twenty five millimeters thick, but the real magic is in the surface. The surface is made of a dark liquid sandwiched between a light source and a plastic film. When the object is placed on the surface, the liquid moves out from beneath it and the light shines through. These tables are made to order with a lead time of about four to six weeks. If you would like one of these, the price tag is £1200.
