Earthlink and SK Telecom have partnered to bring you Helio, the new cell phone service that launched this week. Starting with two base models, the Helio services real claim to fame are there packages (not saying the phone aren't sweet, but we'll get to that later).
There are two basic packages the A la Carte (you can select the features you like) and the All-in-membership, which feature 1000 anytime minutes, free nights & weekends & unlimited data !!! ( also includes roaming and long distance) All of that for just $85!!! i did some comparison shopping & trust me that's a steal.
The two base model phones are the Hero & the Kickflip ($275 and $250 respectively) and both are equipped with 2 megapixel cameras which can do MPEG-4 video, full duplex sound and are expandable ( via SD cards) so you can have a great multimedia experience wherever you are. (games, video, music, you name it does it).
Check them out here
Helio we've definitely been waiting for you!!!

Sky is a scientologist… YES … but the profits of this company does not go to the church. What Sky does with his money is his business and if wants to donate it he is well damn free to do it. But what Helio makes as a company is a totally different entity. I just want to make sure you know this. This phones are the best phones in the market. The service will work wherever Sprint will work, it is what it is the company is an MVNO and therefore will be working with companies that have existing networks.
Having used the kickfilp I can honestly say: it’s an awesome phone… but the way I see it, there are two HUGE drawbacks to the Helio service:
1) Service areas are really limited! If you roam out of metropolitian areas you are likely to get NO reception.
2) Scientology! Sky Dayton, the CEO of earthlink and Helio is a Tom Cruise-level scientologist, which means that a big percentage of his profits will go to the Church…
As nice as the phone is, I can’t justify this and I’m sticking with t-mobile. 🙂
