In Korea, Samsung is marketing its SPH-W7100 with an SOS function to women and children for peace of mind since the phone also alerts local authorities in case of an emergency. The phone features a ring that when pulled, will emit a loud sound then send your location via SMS to the police and your emergency contacts. Engadget says the device has gained FCC approval here so the chances that something like this appears stateside seems very likely.
