Skype for Free

Skype

Now customers in the US & Canada can really talk for free!!! If you're familiar with Skype, you know that the service allows you to call other Skype customers anywhere in the world for free, or to make calls worldwide for very cheap. Hot on the heels of AOL's AIM Phoneline Plan which gives you a free phone number to recieve calls (to your computer), Skype has gone one step further and is now allowing customers within the US & Canada to call to landlines within Canada and the US for Free!!! (via their original Skypeout feature)

Previously the Skypeout feature allowed users to make calls for a fee from their computers to landlines or cell phones. VOIP has been giving standard telco's a run for their money, with companies such as VONAGE offering low cost services competing with the telco's standard fares at a fraction of the cost and forcing them to release similar products in order to remain competitive.

The feature will remain free until December 31, 2006.

My only gripe (& especially since i'm outside the US) "what about the rest of us?!!!"
