While visiting Google today, I noticed a Google doodle with a Van Gough flair, so I figured it must be Van Gough's Birthday! So Happy Birthday old master, and may all your nights be Starry Nights.
Vincent van Gogh was born in the Netherlands on March 30, 1853. His mother had given birth to an already dead baby (stillborn) one year earlier, also on March 30. That baby had also been named Vincent. Over the course of his 47 years, Vincent painted some of the most renowned paintings of our time and went a little crazy in the process. Although Vincent van Gogh is a world-famous artist today, he did not get much recognition during his lifetime. Van Gogh only sold one painting while he was alive, which was Red Vineyard at Arles. For most of his life he was very poor, often spending his money on art supplies instead of food.
