When I first saw it, I thought it must surely be a joke. Why would anyone need such an oversized camera? I still don't know the answer to what that might be, but I do know this is real, and a very serious piece of equipment. It touts a resolution of 7,500 pixels vertically and 21.250 pixels horizontally that create images with over 160 million pixels. A 640x480 touchscreen display is located on the back, and appears to be wireless and removable. A 6x17 digital photo (uncompressed) is about 950MB, so images have to downloaded to a connected Mac Mini computer. As you can expect, there are too many features to list, but if you're a serious photographer, you can read all about it here.
The Seitz 6x17 Digital panorama Camera will be released early next year for a cool $36K.
