We’ve come to know Acer as a company with cool notebooks--think the Ferrari--or the ever popular Acer TravelMate 8204WLMi. We’ve also come to accept that they have great monitors, and a decent media center, so seeing their new flagship camera is an interesting diversion.
Not to worry though, the digital still camera, is an impressive little package, although there is some questioning about Acer’s labeling it as a professional camera.
The CP-8660 is an 8.28 MP camera with 6X optical zoom, a huge 2.8 inch TFT LCD for viewing your shots, image stabilization and 25MB of internal memory, expandable to 1GB via the use of SD cards.
It has a maximum resolution of 3320x 2496, 30 fps VGA video recording, 8.5 x digital zoom and 17 different scene modesand 2cm macro mode focal range for the aspiring photographer.
There is no word on pricing yet, but Acer promises pricing to be competitive.
